KNOW YOUR MOVES
Each character has several different kinds of attacks.
Players can throw the ball in 8 directions, depending on the direction
being held when the attack button is pressed.
Charge up your energy by holding down the attack button for a more
powerful throw that can stun your opponents on contact.
ON THE GROUND
ATTACK BUTTON - NEUTRAL ATTACK
Neutral Attacks are quick and can be great for clashing
or stealing the ball, but can be difficult to land.
ATTACK BUTTON (while running) - RUNNING ATTACK
Running Attacks are fast and often have great range.
ATTACK BUTTON (while holding UP) - UP ATTACK
Running Attacks are fast and often have great range, but little hitstun.
ATTACK BUTTON (while holding DOWN) - CROUCH ATTACK
Crouch Attacks vary widely between players, but are often
used to set up other attacks.
IN THE AIR
ATTACK BUTTON - NEUTRAL AIR ATTACK
Neutral Air Attacks tend to have good knockback and
can be great for launching the ball.
ATTACK BUTTON (while moving) - LEAPING ATTACK
With fast startup and great range, Leaping Attacks are the easiest attacks to land.
ATTACK BUTTON (while holding UP) - UP AIR ATTACK
Up Air Attacks tend to have good range, but not much knockback or hitstun, with one notable exception.
ATTACK BUTTON (while holding DOWN) - SPIKE ATTACK
Spike Attacks launch the target down. They generally have decent range and slow startup. They also knock players down, making them good over ground and deadly over water.
The Charge technique is a great way to increase your power.
Press and hold attack to start charging. Your character will glow and
the jump orbs will start to draw inward.
Release the attack button to unleash a stronger version of any normal
attack, or charge all the way to unleash your Super Move.
Each character has two super moves. Players must pick one before entering battle.
If two attacks collide, they'll clash. As there are no shields or
blocking techniques, some of your best defensive options can be to
use attacks against a incoming attacks.
Some of the force from the attacks transfer during the clash stun.
As with shield pressure in other fighters, you can push around defensive players.
While in clash-stun you have a few options:
- You can continue to influence the movement of your character.
- You can simply wait for the clash stun wear off and resume your attack.
- You can cancel out of the clash stun (see CANCELS below for details)
However, donít think you can just throw any weak attack against a
strong attack and remain safe!
The combined strength of your attacks determines how long
both players are locked in clash-stun, but the player who dealt
the stronger attack will be able to cancel out of the clash
stun first. This is called clash advantage.
At certain times, players can cancel out of their clash stun or hit stun.
Press JUMP or DASH to escape!
Endure a combo long enough and youíll be able to air dash or mini-jump directly out of the
hit stun. Though these options are great for escaping pressure, they can put you right
back into harms way if your opponent anticipates your move.
